Masai Mara
A continuation of Serengeti National park, Masai Mara is a large game reserve located in southern Kenya. Masai Mara is home to what game hunters call the "big five"...or Elephants, Rhinoceros, Leopards, Water Buffalo, and Lions. Also found here in great numbers are the cheetah and Hippopotamus. Be sure to bring some cash with you, as entrance into the park runs $60 for adults and $30 for chldren.
Amboseli National Park
A trip easily accomplished over the weekend, Amboseli National Park is one of the most highly trafficked game reserves in Kenya. The terrain goes from arid dry lake beds on one side of the park to wet swamps in the next, a contrast unique to this area and ecosystem. The main draw to this park are the large number of wild elephants which graze near the swamps here. Lastly, Amboseli offers spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world.
